About Me

I have been a teacher for over 20 years — and before that I was an Industrial Chemist.  While my focus has been middle and high school math and science I am delighted to expand my horizons to include 5th grade gifted.

I am married and have 5 children and 9 grandchildren.  We live to travel and frequently visit Disneyland and Disney World.  My husband’s business is selling Disney collectibles on eBay, and the name of our company, Just An Excuse, sums things up nicely.

Dear Mrs. Foote,
You are the best teacher! How do you learn and teach so much? I hope I could do something special for you.
Love,
Aubrey

Hi Aubrey,

I’ve been teaching for a long time and each year I love it a little more than the last. I am still hungry for knowledge and I constantly try to learn new things — like documentary film making!

Here’s what you can do for me. Learn, learn, learn … and pass your love for learning on to someone else. Teach someone something that only you can teach them.

And always be happy.

Love,

Mrs. Foote

Mrs. Foote,

I am a teacher in Prosper, Texas. I have been teaching for 12 years. However, this is my first year teaching exclusively GT children. I have two sections of 5th grade GT mathematics. I have read so much about your successes and methods. I would deeply appreciate any materials you would be willing to share with regards to lessons, activities, units, etc.

Currently I have having to make up most of what I do with the kids. I use Everyday Mathematics, Hands-On Equations, and anything else that I can find that looks fun, challenging, and interesting.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Mrs. Foote, I saw on the “You can do the cube” website that you incorporate teachings of the Rubik’s Cube into your classroom. If this is true, perhaps you could contact me as I’m holding a Rubik’s cube competition in Glendale, AZ on December 3rd.

Maybe some of your students would enjoy participating. Feel free to email me at chris@arizonaspeedcubing.com, thank you!!

Hi Nancy, I’d like to connect with you about some potential freelance opportunities for developing calculator-based activities for middle school science. Please send me a note at ldoehnert@wordsandnumbers.com if you’re interested.

Hello Mrs. Foote, I just found your awesome site. I have been researching curricula for 4th and 5th, gifted, math and science as I just interviewed for such a position. Thank you for sharing your website. Mzie in Chicago
