If I have two candy bars that are the same size, I am sure the kids can pick which one will float and which one will sink. And they will probably be right. But what happens when I use a really big 3 Musketeers bar, and a really small Snickers bar? I’ll try it tomorrow and let you know. But, I will be very surprised if they understand that with density, size does not matter. Only “crowded-ness” matters.

Do yourself a favor. Take a minute and watch this. Then read the book. You will be glad you did — and so will your students.

It was fun to spend an hour — or two — with you yesterday afternoon. If you attended my Science in a Bag (SIAB) workshop — you were guinea pigs. It was my first presetation of that topic. And I got the message — too little time. Next year I will host a SIAB Part 1, and SIAB Part 2. I think that will help. Thanks for the feedback.

Trying to teach science using the 5 E’s (engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate) is a daunting task. It’s tough enough to be an expert on the content, but putting the content together with inquiry based labs and the 5 E’s can be overwhelming.
Typical to form, Discovery Education has done it for you. DE Science Techbook integrates technology and streamlines the process so that all of your children can learn science in the manner that we all know works best. The lessons are aligned to state standards — not just the national guidelines — which makes it that much easier for me.
I love DE Science Techbook — and can’t wait for summer to be over so I can dig in with my kids!
